Vancouver rain and flood exposure
Vancouver gets more than 1,200 millimetres of rain a year with a wet season from October to March that saturates ground and surcharges storm drains. The most flood-exposed low-lying zones include South East False Creek, the False Creek Flats toward Clark Drive, Southlands and the Fraser-side flats near Marpole. The City is studying a sea gate at the mouth of False Creek and a Fraser River shoreline dike near Marpole.
