Langley rain and flood exposure
Fort Langley, Glen Valley and Walnut Grove are the areas most vulnerable to Fraser River flooding, and Fort Langley was deliberately built at river level. The Fort Langley dike has been rated unacceptable and too low, and in a 100-year Fraser flood the most northwestern part could sit under upwards of 2 metres of water. The City of Langley sits on the Nicomekl floodplain, whose name is Halq'emeylem for 'always flooding.'
